Car sat in a garage for 40 years! Was bought in '66 by a high school student from the original owner, car has many items from the mid to late sixties; time capsule, I just purchased it, April 09. Fenton mags, factory A/C, period stickers, I intend to leave it unmolested; paint still about 95% original, engine appears to not have been torn into; (steel shim head gaskets with red paint on the corners!) , water pump even looks like the factory issue! I feel very fortunate to have stumbled on a nice car like this one, will have it driveable this summer. Ford made running changes on these cars, this one is very late production; July, my question concerns the radiator; this car has the multi ribbed top tank style, engineering code "AK", which is '58, "AJ" was '57, could this have been a late change, I know Ford would put later engineering changes on cars; I had a '69 Mustang that had '70 engineering #s on the heads; any input? Restored to Original. A couple of puzzling things are, the Y-Block 312 has duel exhaust but the car only has one muffler heat shield under the drivers side floor pan. Also, it has a 2 brl. which can't be right unless it's a 292 with T-Bird covers but then, why the duel exhaust ? If only she could talk.

I purchased this Ranchero in the late 60's to keep a buddy from having a repo, my dad had the 292 swapped for a 6 cylinder while I was in Viet Nam and it is still there today. When I returned home I purchased a 57 stationwagon with 312 auto and a 57 4 dr sedan with 292 auto for parts that will someday be used in the Ranchero. By the way, my Ranchero has the Edsel boomerang tail lights that are cool.
