I purchased this Ranchero in the late 60's to keep a buddy from having a repo, my dad had the 292 swapped for a 6 cylinder while I was in Viet Nam and it is still there today. When I returned home I purchased a 57 stationwagon with 312 auto and a 57 4 dr sedan with 292 auto for parts that will someday be used in the Ranchero. By the way, my Ranchero has the Edsel boomerang tail lights that are cool.

Can anyone help me find any information on special ordered E-code Customs. Production code is: 9D412171. I have 2 of these E-codes from this same domestic special order. The VIN plates are exactly the same except the last number of the VIN. Except for the E-code 312 2x4V engines, these cars are as plain as they come as they were special ordered police cars. I was told that only about a dozen 4 door Customs were E-codes and all were special ordered police cars. Can anyone help me verify this or verify production numbers for E-code 312 2x4V Custom 4-door Sedans. Every source I have contacted has told me that they are ultra rare, but no one has a clue where to find information. Actually, mine are the first ones any of them has EVER seen or heard of. This 57 Ranchero has 72k miles clocked on it and had been sitting in a junk yard for the last 25 years. The sheet metal was deplorable and basically just pulled over the car. Complete 292 with standard 3speed with 3.89 rear is in tact. Its a rare occassion when something this bad ever leaves a junk yard and passes on the way to its destination, the assembly plant is was manufactured at, Mahwah, NJ -

Purchased in 1974 from a "Little Old Lady From Pasadena" for $200.00 as a second-driver car for my wife. Currently has 47,000 miles on a 1994 engine re-build. It has an original 3-speed overdrive tranny. Also added dual exhaust. Otherwise, it's all original & in great condition.

This is a older restoration that I found on E-Bay in Ohio,it's a good 20 footer and even after sitting overnight in 5 degree cold it turned right over. Confused as to whether it's a 312 per the vin or 292 per the valve cover decals.
